I picked up the traps and five mongoose (four recaptures and one new juvenile male) this morning at 9:00 because Mike wanted everyone off the Refuge for the next several days as a result of tropical storm Emily. I recorded the sounds of each mongoose with a microphone attached to my iPhone and the Recorder Pro app. The sound quality is excellent and, if there is WiFi available it is extremely easy to transfer the sound files from my iPhone to my MacBook Pro.

Packing up the traps is always a sad event because it reminds me that I have only a few days remaining in Paradise. We have only several more days to enjoy ourselves and at least one of them (Wednesday) looks to be a mostly windy and rainy day.

The wind gusts reached 30 mph and bands of rain passed through all afternoon but that didn't deter us from swimming. However, without the intense sunshine, Jonathan didn't spend as much time in the water because he got cold. One positive side of swimming in the rain is that no one else is on the neach nor in the water! (What does that say about us?)
