SPNWR Nature Trails

Overview

We are planning to develop and construct several nature trails on Sandy Point NWR. As a companion to the trails, we will develop an interactive web site with lots of cool stuff on it such as a place for visitor comments, downloadable vodcasts, a detailed history of Sandy Point, geology of the area, flora and fauna species lists, results of research, maps, images, and much more. The new site will be at SandyPointNWR.org, but is not online yet. Stay tuned!

Consistent with Sandy Point Objective 5-3 (page 111 of the 2009 Edited Draft CCP Virgin Islands Refuges) states the following:

"Develop a 'Friends of Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge' organization based upon sea turtle nesting. This would not be a traditional community-based support group but rather a national or international friends group."

we propose the establishment of a Friends of Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge that will be based through the SandyPointNWR.org website (housed at Westfield State College).
