Marking Mongoose

An essential component of all population biology studies of small mammals, such as mongoose, is the ability to identify individuals. We mark mongoose by providing each animal with an RFID tag that contains a unique nine-digit number. Below is a video of Buzz and Katie injecting an RFID (a.k.a. PIT) tag under the skin of a mongoose for permanent identification.
