It worked flawlessly! I believe all the participants shared this view. Most of the student-generated questions were directed to Jonathan, which is not at all surprising. And he did a great job of answering those questions. All I did was demonstrate the process of handling a mongoose and hold the web cam. Mrs. Knapik did ask me several questions.
Sitting on the veranda of the Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters building in St. Croix and conducting a video conversation with a kindergarten class in Westfield, MA is surreal. Obviously audio and image quality don't compare to the nature programs viewed by millions of households, but none of us are actors (except for maybe Jonathan) and we are supported mostly by our own funds (e.g., Buzz's salary). However, investing money in this type of educational experience for Jonathan and his classmates sure beats losing it in the stock market. I believe my retirement is much more secure through enrichment activities, such as these, for our future leaders.
