Julian Fleron drove us to the airport this morning at 4:30 because his son Jacob is accompanying us on this trip as a videographer. It's Jake's responsibility to create videos that depict our mongoose research from the eyes and perspective of a 16-year old. He has complete creative license and I am excited to see the results.

After approximately 90 minutes into our flight from Hartford to Miami our plane was diverted to Raleigh-Durham because a man across the aisle was apparently having a heart attack. Fortunately there was an ER nurse two seats from him, a cardiologist several rows away, and another physician also assisted. They placed an oxygen mask on the man and walked him to the front of the plane where they had him lie on the floor. The patient was too far away for me to determine if they used the defibrillator on him. The detour caused many passengers to miss their connecting flights but had a minimal effect on our itinerary because we had a several-hour layover in Miami.

We arrived at Cottages By The Sea in time to go swimming before the sunset which was obscured by clouds. It has been windier than normal and a little rainy the past few days.The water is a little cloudy from the waves and it felt a little cool (only about 78 degrees F). Steve Brewer arrived with his family just around sunset and together we went to the Lost Dog for our traditional first-night pizza. Aside from a new sign, the place looks the same as it has for the past 20 years.
