We made it to Puerto Rico an hour or so shy of what the original arrival would be but we made it with plenty of time to board for out 16A terminal to St. Croix. It was a little plane and the flight was only about 30 minutes. When we got over the island all I could see were green mountains and busy city. After landing we enjoyed a little island rum and waited for our baggage. Without delay we received our baggage, got into our rental vehicle, a Nissan van, and headed to the grocery store. The “Pueblo” grocery store was a little different then a normal grocery store with shelves not as full as ones found in the states. Nonetheless, I got my breakfast and lunch foods consisting of eggs, bacon, bread, lunch meat, cereal and the necessary condiments. We arrived at Buzz’s cottage at “Cottage by the Sea” and it is quite the sight to see. Beautiful beaches, sand, and cabins were all that my eye could see. The first thing that I did after I brought my luggage into the room was change into my board shorts and head for the ocean. It was 81 degree Fahrenheit and the water had to be of equal or greater temperature. I took many pictures of breaking wave, Buzz’s son Jonathon and various coral and shells that I found on my walk. The complimentary island aged dark rum that was placed in our room is absolutely the best rum I have ever tasted. So far I am enjoying every minute and I am awaiting to leave for our pizza dinner followed by some after dinner drinks by the ocean. With the wind blowing and the waves crashing, it feels as if a storm is coming in. It will be interesting to see what is going to happen.
