You are here

Finally in St. Croix

I am finally here. After being dropped off at the airport by Annie at 7:15 this morning I began my trip at 8:20. My flights were uneventful and I landed in St. Croix at around 2:30 pm. They give out FREE bottles of rum at the airport (albeit very small bottles) so of course I had to get one. I'll try it tonight. Buzz and Katie met me at the airport and brought me back to where I will be staying, "The Cottages by The Sea". We are right on the beach. I can't believe how beautiful it is here. This is paradise, it is so beautiful and peaceful here.

Upon arriving, I immediately changed into my swimming trunks and went into the water. It was FABULOUS. The water is an amazing color of blue; it was a bit cooler than I expected, but still warm. Jonathan has made a new friend, Charlie, and it was fun watching them play in the waves.

After swimming, I changed into shorts (shorts in March, I love it!!) and while Buzz and Katie went to the Refuge to set traps, I called Annie and then read for a bit. I love the sound of the waves on the beach. It reminds me of when I was in Pozzalo, Italy in February - March 1975, I used to go down to the sea almost every day and stand there for hours watching the waves crash along the shore. I could do that here too. I imagine the sound of the waves will be real soothing at night.

Tomorrow I plan to visit my friends, Camille McKayle, Rob Stolz and their kids on St. Thomas. On Monday, I will get to work helping Buzz. In the meantime I'm savoring the moment
