Happy St Patty's Day 3/17/09

Sorry for not posting every day but I have been very busy.
Lets start from the beginning.
3/13/09 - Friday the 13th
Got up early Friday morning at 5am because I was so excited but also going over my check list in my head so I wouldn't forget any thing. Left my house @ 6:30 and got to the airport @quarter of 7. Had to pay $15 to check in a bag. Plus my bag was 53 lbs - it has to be under 50 so I needed to remove a towel. Buzz, Jonathan or Matt got there @ 7. I already checked in and was waiting to go through security. No problems with security and only waited a few minutes before we boarded the plane. There was a problem with our plane. Some red lights were on so the mechanic needed to fix before we left. At that time I fell asleep. Woke up an hour later and we were still on the ground. It took another half an hour before we left Bradley. The flight took 4 hrs and was smooth except for the young girl sitting next to me who like to elbow me. Snacks cost between $3 and $5 but sodas, juices and waters were free. Thank goodness because I didn't want to spend all my money before we got to our final destination. Since we left late we were worried about our connecting flight from San Juan to St. Croix. Got to San Juan at 1 and our connecting flight left at 1:10. Made it just in time. Walked on to the tar mat to board the plane. This was a 30 passenger plane that was full and only took 20 minutes. Matt and I meet a very nice gentle man that asked us a lot of questions about what we were doing. He had a Martha's Vineyard hat on - I commented on it saying that I love to visit there. Again a nice smooth landing. I noticed with each flight I was peeling off layers of clothes and I am thankful I did because when I got off the small plane it was very humid and hot. The temp was 80 and windy but I like the wind because it keeps you cool. Again got off on tar mat and walk down an open corridor with a beautiful under water mural. This lead to the baggage claim which was again open. Matt, Jonathan and I waited for our bags while Buzz went to get a rental car. Unfortunately Buzz's licence expired on his birthday which was 3 days ago. So Matt and I went to rent the car but Matt is under 25 so he couldn't drive. So that leaves me to be the designated driver. Remember down here you drive on the LEFT. This is going to be FUN. Our vehicle is a Nissan Quest - which in short terms is a mini van which is extreme low to the ground. I was hoping of a jeep, SUV or truck considering were are driving down dirt roads. Got the mini van and took off to Cottages by the Sea in Frederiksted. The roads are well paved but are windy. There is Route 66 which is the main highway on the island. Before we headed to cottages we stopped by Pueblo which is a small super market. Picked up some food for breakfast and lunch. Left the main road and took a lot of side roads to reach Cottages by the Sea. The street that connects to the street that the cottages are on has a big hill and as we headed down all you saw was aqua water with white sandy beaches. It really was a site. No picture could capture the color of the water and believe me I have been trying since I got here. Arrive around 5 and checked in to Caravelle Cottage which has a little kitchen for us to cook and a grill out side on our own little patio. As you walk out our door the ocean and beach is right there. We all got in our bathing suits and headed out. Matt, Jonathan and Buzz went swimming while I felt like taking a walk down the beach. Matt decided to join me. We walked down the beach and looked at the waves crashing on the lava rocks. Got some really nice pictures. After a while Matt headed back due his beverage ran out. I kept walking and taking picture. Couldn't see the sun set due to the clouds were going by. So I headed back to the cottage because tonight we are going to Jonathan's favorite restaurant called the Lost Dog. This was located in down town Frederiksted. Small little hole in the wall bar that makes awesome pizza's. It has a Cruzan charm to it that is irresistable. Alot of signs hagging up, a fuzball table, 2 video games and a jup box. We got a pepperoni, sausage an Jalepeno pizza. Jonathan was right there pizza's were extremely Yummy. After taking a couple of pics we headed back to the cottages due to every one was sooo tired.
GOODNIGHT!
