Less than 35 Hours to Go

So I'm leaving for St. Croix in less than 35 hours. I'm really excited as this will be my first trip to the Caribbean. I've spent most of today getting ready; I'm mostly packed and ready to go. Yesterday Annie, my girlfriend, and I went shopping to find suitable field clothes. We bought several pairs of pants and shirts. Hopefully these will be light enough so that I don't melt while we are outside. I'm constantly running items through my head making sure I've got them. As I type, it occurs to me that I almost forgot a water bottle. I also need to make sure I remember my prescriptions and iPhone charger. Otherwise I think I'm ready, besides clothes I've got my swimsuit, camera, sunscreen, hats and lots of books.

Buzz's work studying mongoose sounds fascinating and I can't wait to help out. I'm curious to see what kind of data Buzz collects. I would imagine there is a lot of interesting mathematics in there. The hook up with Jonathan's Kindergarten class will be wonderful. What an opportunity for the students to see science being done, ask questions and even participate. The fact that this technology is freely available is wonderful. Since Juniper Park's technology is limited, it is fortunate that Jonathan's class can go over to campus and use the CIT. This is going to be fabulous.

On a more personal note, I'm really going to miss Annie. This is a new relationship and I want to spend as much time with her as I can. Being away from her for a week is going to make me crazy.
