Scientists Through The Eyes of Kindergartners - Before the Research Trip Experience

Overview

Mrs. Knapik's 2008-2009 Kindergarten class in Juniper Park Elementary School, Westfield, MA participated in a mongoose research program during the spring 2009. Prior to the research trip, Buzz Hoagland discussed with the class the trip he would be leading with his son, Jonathan, who was student in Mrs. Knapik's class. Mrs. Knapik then developed a unit with this research as a central theme. This unit included asking the students to draw pictures of scientists and describe what scientists do. Below are quotes from the students.
